Henry at 10 months

Almost 10 months!  January 4, 2013

This post is long over-due!  Henry is already 11 months, and will be ONE in a week, but at least I'm writing it, right?  Ten months was filled with lots of growing and changes for Henry.  When Henry was 10 months he went through an explosion of gaining new skills.  Now he working on refining and honing them, in addition to learning more new skills!

At 10 months Henry mastered pulling up on anything.  He started with his crib, moved on to the living room table and now can pull up and cruise (walk holding on to the object) on anything in our house:  the tub, our bed, kitchen cabinets, dinning room table, various shelves and toys, laundry baskets, you name it!  He still continues to do this now at 11 months.

At 10 months Henry became able to indicate that he understands more of what LJ and I say to him.  Henry began waving hi/goodbye when we asked him too or waved to him.  He also started waving goodnight when we closed the curtains in his room to go to bed and he now waves to LJ when he leaves the room before Henry nurses before bed.

When Henry was 10 months we started swimming lessons, and he LOVED it!  The session ran for six weeks and just ended a week ago.  Henry learned how to blow bubbles, reach for toys, kick, jump into the pool and how to go under water!  Henry loves swimming and going under doesn't seem to phase him!  I hope we can take more swimming lessons again soon.  We also started a Music Together class when Henry was 10 months and still have a few weeks left before this session is over.  The class is called Bebop and Bundles and and it is a family music class.  Our class is at 5:45 pm so that LJ can also come, and our class is filled with great people and many of the families both parents come to class with their child(ren).   We all really enjoy the experience and Henry loves listening to music and playing music.  Each class we sing, dance, play instruments and work on different rhythms and tonalities.

Henry claps when he is excited and also uses clapping as the sign for "more" when he wants more food.  Henry started clapping for the first time in swim lessons when everyone else was clapping!  Henry is very proud of himself when he claps.  =)

At ten months Henry started trying more finger foods, but also began a phase that we are still in of picky eating.  Henry tried yogurt at 10 months and it quickly became his favorite.  Now it's to hard to get him to each much of anything else!  Thank goodness he still loves green smoothies though!

At 10 months we were lucky that Henry went through a phase of awesome sleeping (sadly that seems to have ended about 2-3 weeks ago).  He would go to bed sometime between 7-8 pm and sleep until 4:30 - 5:30 am.  He would get up and nurse and then go back to sleep until about 7:30 am.  He would also take two good naps a day.  About an hour in the morning and 1.5 - 2 hours in the afternoon!  It was lovely while it lasted!  =)

At 10 months Henry is a silly, funny guy.  Henry laughs when we make funny faces or when we laugh.  Sometimes he laughs at pictures of other babies or for no apparent reason.  =) Henry is super busy exploring our house and loves to find LJ's guitar and try to play it.  Henry loves playing LJ's guitar so much that LJ "gave" his old guitar to Henry so that he could explore with it (and hopefully not play with his new guitar... that didn't really work though!).  

Henry mastered climbing up the stairs, which quickly became one of his favorite activities and he loves to pick my nose when he nurses.  Henry is a busy, busy boy at 10 months, constantly bringing joy to our days!
