This year we went to the Domes (LJ's parent's) for Thanksgiving! On the way home we drove the scenic back-country way and stopped at a little ma and pa tree farm to cut down our Christmas tree. Our tree is kind of a Charlie Brown tree (ie: has some bare spots and is not very symmetrical) but it's very fresh and the process of going out and cutting it down ourselves was really fun! My parents met us at the tree farm to help search for the perfect Christmas tree and Henry loved exploring the forest.
A little update on our tree: As we were decorating our tree it fell down a few times. LJ got it super secure in the stand, but the day before our "Fancy Christmas" party I decided to try to turn the tree so there wasn't a bare spot in the front. When I "turned" the tree it got awkward in the stand and was leaning to one side. When LJ tried to fix it, it fell down again. We got it secure and then the next day, just hours before our party it fell down again without anyone touching it; breaking a few ornaments. LJ went out to buy a new tree stand, but the store was sold out! Being the smarty pants that he is he bought some wood and cut it up into small pieces to secure the tree to the stand. It was restored and beautiful for the party AND made it through Christmas and into the New Year. =)
